Man Receives 20 Years for Distributing Child Porn and Child Molestation

gavel

A 30-year-old Wildwood man was recently sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography.

He allegedly mentioned in an Internet chat that he was molesting a three-year-old child.

The man pleaded guilty to the child porn charges on April 17, 2012.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Cocoa Beach received information from an investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in Georgia on November 2, 2011 that a person in Florida had used an Internet chat service to trade kiddie porn.

The person apparently mentioned that he was molesting a 3-year-old. ICE HIS launched an investigation and tracked the Internet activity to the man’s girlfriend’s home in Wildwood, where he was apparently living.

The Wildwood Police Department teamed up with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and obtained a search warrant.

The warrant was executed and the man was arrested. Police claim the evidence found confirmed the man had been distributing child porn and had molested a young child.

It is important to understand that state and federal officials work tirelessly to make sure that child exploitation crimes are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The fact that these crimes involve children only amplifies the way these crimes are pursued. Because of the sensitive nature of child sex crimes, it is absolutely imperative to obtain sound legal counsel if you have been charged with a child exploitation offense. Depending on the nature of the charges, a conviction could result in anywhere from several years in prison to life behind bars with no chance of parole.

Child sexual exploitation offenses can include numerous crimes, including:

  • Child Pornography
  • Child Sex Trafficking
  • Internet Solicitation
  • Distributing Child Porn via the Internet
  • Forced Child Labor or Slavery
