A 19-year-old man was arrested last week for allegedly having sex with an under-aged girl he met on a social media website.

The Winter Garden man was charged with lewd and lascivious battery on Wednesday. He has since been released from the Lake County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

According to an arrest affidavit, both he and the girl posted on Facebook about the girl’s actual age, which police claim is under 17 years old.

According to police, the girl told investigators that after the two had sex, the man said he couldn’t believe he had sex with someone her age, regretted it and then stated he “could go to prison for a long time.”

Having your name even linked to any type of criminal sexual activity can destroy your reputation and ruin relationships with family and friends. If you have been accused of or charged with a sex crime, or are merely involved in a sex crime investigation, you must protect your freedom and your reputation and get help immediately from a sex crimes defense lawyer.

One of the harshest consequences of a sex crime conviction is the mandatory requirement to register as a sexual offender. Registration seriously restricts where you can live, where you can work and can add unwanted chaos to your life in general. Failure to register can lead to even more time behind bars.
