Sexual Battery Case Against Lady Lake Man Dismissed | The Villages Sex Crimes Defense Lawyers Whittel & Melton

By Whittel & Melton September 8, 2020 Posted in Sex Crimes

Reports have confirmed that a Lady Lake man will not be prosecuted in a sexual battery case involving his wife’s friend.

A woman accused the man of lifting her dress, grabbing her breast, and touching her inappropriately on Independence Day. She also accused the man of forcing her to stoke his penis. The woman said the man and his wife had been at her home for dinner, and the incident occurred after the man’s wife left early because she was tired.

The man was arrested on July 8 on a first-degree felony sexual battery charge.

The woman claims she waited to file a report because the man’s wife is her best friend and she did not want to ruin their friendship.

Reports show that State Attorney Brad King announced that the charge of sexual battery against the 43-year-old man was dropped due to the fact that the case does not merit prosecution.

Court records show that the $25,000 bail the man posted following his arrest has been refunded.

The first step towards winning any criminal case is hiring effective legal counsel. You need a criminal defense attorney who can identify key components of your legal defense so that you are properly protected from overzealous police and prosecutors. We will work with you through every stage of your legal matter, from the investigation phases through a potential trial to make sure your rights are protected and that you get the best sex crimes defense.

Once you are aware that you are being investigated for a sex crime, you need to speak with an attorney before you consent to any police investigations or interrogations. You want to make sure you consult with your legal counsel before making any statements to police as they will use anything you say against you. In most sex crimes cases, the main peices of evidence use against them are from statements made in early interviews. We will look into the validity of any evidence obtained and challenge these claims with the hopes of having the charges against you dropped or reduced. If a criminal trial is inevitable, then we will fight aggressively to try and protect you from a criminal conviction.

We will comb through every detail of your case and identify any flaws or weaknesses in the prosecution’s case. Through this, we will develop a tailored defense strategy unique to your charges.
