A 59-year-old Villages resident was arrested Monday on fraud and larceny charges after she allegedly swindled more than $14,000 from a 92-year-old woman she was caring for.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the caregiver took the elderly woman to a bank in the Villages where she apparently arranged to have her name placed on the woman’s checking account. The woman allegedly told a bank official she was the woman’s daughter.

She is accused of obtaining two cashier’s checks – one for $5,000 and the other for $9,679.
